Privacy Policy

We're pretty serious about keeping your info safe. Here's the straight talk on how we handle your data.

Last updated: January 2024

The Basics

Look, we get it - nobody actually enjoys reading privacy policies. But this one matters because we genuinely care about your privacy. We're architects, not data miners. When you reach out to us about a project or browse our work, we collect only what's necessary to serve you better. No shady stuff, no selling your info to random third parties.

Based in Vancouver and operating under Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA, if you're into acronyms), we take this seriously. If something here doesn't make sense, just give us a call at (604) 555-0147.

When you contact us or work with us, we might collect:

  • Contact details: Name, email, phone number, mailing address - the usual stuff you'd put on a business card.
  • Project information: Site details, property specs, your vision for the space, budget ranges, timelines.
  • Communication records: Emails, meeting notes, sketches you share with us, feedback on designs.
  • Website data: How you found us, which pages you visit, how long you stick around. Standard analytics stuff through cookies.
  • Payment info: For active projects, we need billing details - though our payment processor handles the sensitive bits securely.

We don't go digging for info we don't need. If it's not relevant to designing your space or improving our service, we're not interested.

Here's what we actually do with your data:

Project Work

Obviously, we use your info to design your space. Site analysis, permit applications, coordinating with contractors, sending you updates - all that essential project stuff.

Communication

Responding to your inquiries, scheduling site visits, sharing design iterations, occasional updates about our studio if you've said that's cool.

Legal Stuff

Keeping records for contracts, complying with building codes and regulations, protecting both our interests if disputes come up (hopefully never).

Improving Our Service

Understanding what people look for on our site, which services get the most interest, how we can make the experience better.

We're not in the business of selling your data. Period. But sometimes we need to share info to get the job done:

  • Project collaborators: Engineers, contractors, consultants, municipal offices - the folks who help bring designs to life. They only get what's relevant to their role.
  • Service providers: Our cloud storage, email service, accounting software. They're bound by their own privacy policies and contractual obligations.
  • Legal requirements: If the law says we gotta share something (court orders, regulatory requests), we'll comply - but we'll let you know unless we're legally prevented from doing so.
  • With your permission: If you want us to showcase your project in our portfolio or share plans with a third party, we'll ask first.

That's it. No data brokers, no random marketing companies, none of that nonsense.

Yeah, our website uses cookies - not the chocolate chip kind, unfortunately. These are small files that help us understand how people use the site.

Essential Cookies

These keep the site functioning properly. Can't really turn these off if you want the site to work.

Analytics Cookies

Help us see which pages are popular, where visitors are coming from, that kind of thing. We use this to improve the site experience.

Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. Just heads up - blocking all cookies might make some parts of the site wonky.

Security's not just about fancy tech - though we use that too. It's about being smart with how we handle information:

  • Encrypted connections (that little padlock in your browser)
  • Secure cloud storage with reputable Canadian providers
  • Limited access - only team members who need specific info get it
  • Regular backups so nothing gets lost
  • Physical security at our Vancouver office
  • We actually train our team on privacy practices (shocking, right?)

No system's 100% bulletproof - anyone who claims otherwise is lying. But we're doing everything reasonable to keep your info safe. If there's ever a breach that affects you, we'll let you know ASAP.

Under Canadian privacy law, you've got some solid rights. Here's what you can do:

  • Access: Ask what info we have about you. We'll show you.
  • Correction: If something's wrong, let us know and we'll fix it.
  • Deletion: Want us to erase your data? We can do that (with some legal exceptions for stuff like completed project records).
  • Opt-out: Don't want marketing emails? Hit unsubscribe or tell us directly.
  • Portability: Need your data in a usable format? We'll export it for you.
  • Withdraw consent: Changed your mind about something? You can revoke permission anytime.

To exercise any of these rights, just shoot us an email at info@kyralonquintavix.info or call (604) 555-0147. We'll sort it out within 30 days, usually much faster.

We don't hoard data forever. Here's our general approach:

  • Active project data: Throughout the project and for 7 years after completion (that's what architectural regulations require).
  • Inquiry info: If we never worked together, we'll keep your contact details for about 2 years then delete them.
  • Marketing contacts: As long as you're engaged. If you haven't opened an email in 3 years, we'll probably remove you.
  • Website analytics: Anonymized data might stick around longer since it can't identify you personally.
  • Legal/tax records: As long as the law requires, typically 7 years.

Once we don't need your info anymore, we securely delete or anonymize it. No dusty filing cabinets full of ancient client info here.

Sometimes our site links to other websites - supplier catalogs, building code resources, inspiration boards, whatever. Once you click through to another site, their privacy policy takes over, not ours.

We try to link to reputable sites, but we can't control what they do with your data. Give their privacy policies a quick glance if you're concerned.

Privacy laws evolve, our practices improve, tech changes - so yeah, we might update this policy occasionally. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page.

For major changes that affect how we handle your data, we'll reach out directly - probably via email. For minor tweaks and clarifications, the updated version here is your notice.

Worth checking back here once in a while if you're curious. Or don't - we won't be offended.

Questions About Your Privacy?

Seriously, if anything here's unclear or you want to know more about how we handle your specific information, just reach out. We're real people, not a privacy policy generator.
